Famous Names and Aspiring Performers Grace the Stage at the RiverCenter. The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia has hosted many notable celebrities in this world class entertainment complex. From classical luminaries such as Yo-Yo Ma and Jessie Norman to comedian Bill Cosby and magician David Copperfield, the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts brings world class entertainment and performances to Columbus every year.
The Bill Heard Theater is the main theater of the complex and home to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. It has hosted national touring companies of award-winning Broadway shows such as Cats, Miss Saigon, Chicago, and A Year with Frog and Toad. The theater also hosts visiting orchestras and performers from around the world, something you just can't miss on your Georgia vacation.
The Legacy Hall is an acoustical wonder that is famous for its wrap-around balcony and Jordan Concert Organ. Performers who have appeared there have raved about this hall’s outstanding acoustics and style as a performance space.
The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts also serves an important function in educating future performers. The Columbus State University’s Schwab School of Music uses Legacy Hall and the Studio Theater as rehearsal and performance space and has classrooms, practice rooms and rehearsal studios located at the RiverCenter to nurture tomorrow’s talent.
